First Strike Already Underway With Further Walkouts Planned For Next Two Weeks

Heathrow Airport to face series of strikes from Border Force and security guards

First strike already underway with further walkouts planned for next two weeks

WEB Border Force officers at Heathrow Airport began a four-day strike on Monday, causing disruption for passengers. The action is over pay and staffing levels, and is the first in a series of strikes planned for the airport over the next two weeks.

Security guards at Heathrow Airport's Terminal Five are due to strike for 10 days from 31 March, while further strikes by airport and passport workers have also been announced.

Heathrow Airport said it was operating as normal and that it had contingency plans in place to minimise disruption. However, passengers are advised to check with their airline before travelling.

The strikes come as Heathrow is struggling to recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw passenger numbers plummet. The airport is now facing a busy summer season, with many people planning to travel abroad for the first time in several years.
