Boeing's Starliner Astronaut Mission to Launch May 6, 2024
Live Coverage Begins June 1 on NASA TV
Countdown Milestones Starting at 8:15 AM
Boeing is set to launch its first-ever Starliner astronaut mission for NASA as early as May 6, 2024, on a critical test flight to demonstrate its capabilities. The mission, officially known as Starliner-1, will carry a crew of two astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) for a six-month stay. This historic mission marks a significant milestone in Boeing's commercial crew program and is a major step towards establishing a regular and reliable human transportation system to low-Earth orbit.
Coverage of the Starliner-1 mission will include live streaming and blog updates beginning no earlier than 8:15 AM June 1 as the countdown milestones occur. The flight test is scheduled to launch no earlier than Saturday, June 1, at 12:25 PM EDT. Live coverage on NASA TV will begin at 8:15 AM EDT.
Starliner's launch campaign will begin approximately 45 days before liftoff when United Launch Alliance begins stacking an Atlas V rocket at Space Launch Complex 41. The Atlas V will be used to launch the Starliner spacecraft into orbit. Once in orbit, Starliner will rendezvous with the ISS, where it will dock and remain for the duration of the mission.
