WEB: Yankee Rookie Ben Rice Hits Three Home Runs In Blowout Win

New York Yankees rookie first baseman Ben Rice hit three home runs on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, becoming the first Yankee to do so since Alex Rodriguez in 2005.

Rice's first home run came in the third inning off Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez. He then hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning off reliever Matt Barnes and added a solo shot in the seventh inning off reliever Ryan Brasier.

Rice's performance helped the Yankees to a 14-4 victory, their fourth straight win. The 24-year-old is now batting .333 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in 14 games this season.

After the game, Rice said he was "just trying to put a good swing on the ball" and that he was "fortunate" to hit three home runs.

"It's a great feeling to help the team win," Rice said. "I'm just trying to do my part."

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he was "impressed" with Rice's performance.

"He's a young player who is still learning, but he has a lot of potential," Boone said. "I'm excited to see what he can do in the future."
