Gabby Thomas Wins 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships 200m

Incredible Close Gives Thomas the Win

Gabby Thomas trailed recently crowned 100m National champ ShaCarri Richardson at the turn but an incredible close gave her the win and the 200m title at the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Thomas, who won the 200m silver medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest with a time of 21.81 seconds, ran a world-leading time of 21.60 seconds to surpass Shericka Jackson's previous leading time. Richardson, who won the 100m at the USATF Championships, finished second in 21.81 seconds.

Thomas's victory is a major upset, as Richardson was the heavy favorite coming into the race. However, Thomas's strong finish was enough to give her the win and the USATF title.
