Prominent Democrat Raises Concerns About Biden's Age
Representative Adam Schiff of California has become the most prominent elected Democrat to publicly call on President Joe Biden to end his reelection bid.
In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Schiff expressed serious concerns about Biden's age and his ability to serve a second term. Biden will be 82 years old by the end of his first term, making him the oldest president in American history.
Schiff said he believes that Biden is "a good man and a dedicated public servant," but he worries that the demands of the presidency will be too much for him.
"I don't think he has the stamina or the mental acuity to serve another four years," Schiff said.
Schiff's comments come as Biden has been facing increasing scrutiny for his age and his performance as president. Biden's approval ratings have been declining in recent months, and he has been criticized for his handling of the economy, the pandemic, and the war in Ukraine.
Biden has not yet announced whether he will run for reelection in 2024. However, he has said that he intends to do so if he is in good health.
